Why family medicine?
General practitioners have access to a large and diverse patient population and manage common types of chronic and acute diseases that often present in an early stage of development. Many diseases are treated primarily by GPs, and approximately 80% of health problems can be solved in primary care in close proximity to the patient’s home.
The gp4research Investigative Site Network supports late phase and observational studies within therapeutic areas frequently presented in GP practices:
- Asthma
- Atherosclerosis
- Cardiovascular diseases
- Chronic and acute respiratory diseases*
- COPD
- Dementia/Alzheimer
- Depression
- Diabetes
- Dyslipidemia
- Hypertension
- Infectious diseases
- Migraine
- Nutrition
- Obesity
- Osteoarthritis
- Osteoporosis
- Pain
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Vaccines
We are happy to perform a feasibility study to check if our network can cope with your expectations.
Services
Our network
Gp4research operates as an Investigative Site Network (ISN) of primary care units across Europe. We only accept units which meet the strictest requirements pertaining to the professional conduct of the physicians they employ and the facility itself.
Prior to joining the network, sites are evaluated in accordance with gp4research’s requirements. Not only do we pay attention to site experience, facilities and patient population, but we also assess the potential investigator’s motivation and commitment.
Feasibility and site identification
Thanks to close collaboration with our site partners, we have access to an extensive database on the experience of the employed physicians, the facility and its equipment and infrastructure, resources, patient population, and past performance. This knowledge enables us to quickly determine whether the study can be conducted by our network and to recommend sites matching the sponsor’s requirements.
Contract and budget negotiation
Gp4research provides one contact point for contract and budget negotiation on behalf of network-affiliated sites. We assure a quick and smooth process of contracting and budgeting that reduces the duration of the transaction and streamlines the process of study start-up.

Subject recruitment
Thanks to our access to an extensive patient population, gp4research can easily and quickly find suitable study subjects. Together with the physicians employed in the network-affiliated sites we select the people who qualify, and introduce the recruitment procedures and retention plans.
Training and quality assurance
Compliance with industry standards is paramount for gp4research. All our employees and co-workers, as well as the physicians employed in the network-affiliated sites, are regularly trained to ensure that they are up to date with the latest regulations and procedures and to prevent misconduct. By maintaining and constantly updating the network procedures and carrying out regular training, periodic inspections and onsite quality reviews, we motivate the whole network to keep the highest possible standards.
We have developed and introduced an extensive information program which by far exceeds the scope of minimum Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training requirements for investigative sites. It is worth mentioning that we encourage sites to implement gp4research Standard Operating Procedures.
It is of utmost importance to us that both newly affiliated sites and those working with us for a longer time stay abreast of the latest regulations concerning the way studies are conducted. It is a prerequisite to joining our network that the physicians, nurses and other staff potentially involved in the studies have the necessary and most recent knowledge required to participate in the studies.
Study coordination
Studies are coordinated through our central administrative office, which serves as a single point of contact for sponsors and CROs. This streamlined study communication reduces the timeline associated with completing study tasks and reduces the risk of miscommunication. Our superbly trained personnel provide high-level oversight of the conduct of the study, support activities, logistics, and receivables management.
